Thursday, November 19th, 2020 - New State-Wide COVID-19 Requirements - 24-hour access is still available.
As you have heard, cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in our area. The Illinois Department of Public Health has released new requirements that go into effect tomorrow morning (11/20/2020). The latest state-wide requirements are:
- Masks must be worn at all times — even while working out.
- Locker rooms are closed — please arrive in your workout attire.
- Reservations required.
We understand that these new requirements may be frustrating. Rest assured, we are doing everything possible to ensure your next visit is safe and convenient.
We are still able to offer 24-hour access, with a new automated capacity limiting system. Please follow the steps below to book a reservation and learn how 24-hour access will look slightly different.
Thank you for supporting our small business.

Changes to 24-Hour Access
If you haven't yet, make sure to stop by the office to get 24-hour access.
Due to the new state-wide requirements, we've implemented an automated capacity limiting system — it's incredibly easy to use. Still, there are a few things you should know.
- When arriving after-hours, scan your card at the door like usual. The system will verify there is space available, then unlock the door.
- If space is not available, you will be denied access, and the door will not unlock. Unfortunately, there is no special indication that you are being denied access due to the capacity limit.
- Before leaving the gym, scan your card at the reader in the office window.
Monday, October 5th, 2020 - We're beginning 24-hour access - Special steps required.
Today I’m excited to announce we have taken the next step in the careful and phased reopening of our gym. As of October 5th, we are reopening 24-hour access to the gym. --
Special Steps for 24-Hour Access
To receive 24-hour access, visit the office to sign a waiver (allow 5-10 minutes), review our safety policies, and reactivate your card.
You must bring your card with you when requesting 24-hour access.
Following all safety guidelines, maintaining social distancing, and wearing a face covering while not actively working out is imperative. In the era of COVID-19, the only way we can provide 24-hour gym access is if everyone does their part.
We will continue to closely monitor capacity, social distancing, and adherence to safety guidelines, changing course as required. Our highest priority has always been our members, guests, and team’s safety.
We owe a debt of gratitude for your unwavering support of our small business through these challenging times. — Thank You.
Memberships on Hold & Hold Options
If your membership is on hold, and you selected the option, “Reinstate my membership when the temporary disruption from COVID-19 allows.”, we will reinstate your membership beginning October 14th — you can also stop by to get started sooner.
To keep your membership on hold until Restore Illinois Phase 5 (when large gatherings are permitted), please resubmit the hold form here.»
We have introduced temporary extended office hours to help you get 24-hour access.
Office & Tanning Hours:
Monday, October 5th - Wednesday, October 14th
Mon - Thu: 8 am-8 pm.
Fri: 8 am-1 pm.
Thursday, September 10th, 2020 - Reservations not required for Gym Access - September 14th.
Beginning this Monday, September 14th, we will no longer require appointments for gym access.
Gym access is still only available during staffed hours only.
Additionally, you will be able to move about the gym throughout your entire workout. Please maintain social distancing of 6ft between yourself and other members, only use every-other piece of equipment, and wear a mask when not actively exercising.
Following all safety guidelines and maintaining social distancing is imperative. In the era of COVID-19, the only way we can provide gym access without appointments is if everyone does their part.
Our top priority continues to be the safety of our members, guests, community, and team members. We will closely monitor capacity, social distancing, and adherence to safety guidelines, changing course as required.
Thank you for being a loyal customer and for your support for our small business during this time. We miss you and can't wait to see you soon!
Some questions you may have:
Q: If appointments are no longer required, can I be sure there will be space available when I arrive?
A: No, we can't guarantee space will be available; additionally, we're not able to provide real-time capacity information. However, based on recent attendance and capacity, we have created the graphic below to give you an idea of the busiest times.
Q: Do I still have to wear a mask?
A: Yes! Please wear a mask at all times while not actively working out, including when entering or exiting the building.
Q: Can I use any piece of equipment?
A: Yes, and no, all equipment will be available, but avoid selecting a machine next to one already in use. All cardio machines are appropriately spaced and are available for simultaneous use. Please be considerate of how long you use a piece of equipment, and be prepared to use machines in a different order than planned.
Q: Is the gym back to 24/7?
A: Not yet; gym access is during staffed hours only.
Q: I haven’t been in since the gym reopened in June, is there anything special I need to know?
A: Yes! There have been too many changes to list here; please wear a mask when entering the building, then at the front desk, let us know you haven't visited recently. We'll be glad to show you all of the changes!
Q: How do I know it's safe to return to the gym?
A: To be transparent, there is a heightened risk with all activities outside the house. We've taken extra precautions to reduce the risk for our members and guests, including enhanced cleaning, minimizing touchpoints, wellness screenings for all guests and members, social distancing, limiting capacity, and using a hospital-grade disinfectant certified for COVID-19. Even with all of these precautions, we cannot completely remove the risk of being in a public space. We understand that this level of risk is not appropriate for everyone. With this in mind, we're happy to place your membership or tanning package on hold and welcome you back in the future.
Monday, June 22nd, 2020 - We’re Reopening Gym Access - June 26th.
We are incredibly excited to welcome you back to Lacon Fitness and Tan as we move into the next phase of our reopening! To ensure Lacon Fitness and Tan is a safe space for everyone, we have implemented Heightened Safety Measures and are offering Gym Access during staffed hours, by reservation only.
To accommodate Gym Access, we are changing our staffed hours to suit members’ schedules better.
We have thought of many options on how to safely reopen our gym. Your safety and the safety of our team has stayed at the forefront of every decision we have made. There was absolutely no way to make everyone happy with the same decision, so I ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Eventually, we will be able to be a 24/7 gym again. We used historical attendance data to help decide what hours to be open — Please know that this schedule may change. I am open to your suggestions and feedback. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Many of us are longing for life to get back to “normal.” I know I am. Unfortunately, life can’t go back to normal right now. In the meantime, we have to make smart choices to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities as safe as possible. Thursday, May 28th, 2020 - We’re Starting to Reopen - June 1st.
Today I’m proud to announce that we have begun the careful and phased reopening of our gym. Starting June 1st, we are offering outdoor group fitness classes and one-on-one personal training.
New times require new models of care. As our daily habits are changing, our highest priority has remained unchanged — the safety of our members, guests, team members, and community. When we closed our gym in March, we did so to protect our guests and our teams. We knew we would only reopen when it felt safe to do so.
We plan to follow government guidance as we reopen to provide the safest environment possible and to help keep us open. As we prepared to reopen, we looked at three key indicators: government guidelines, safety protocols, and the sentiments of our team. This first phase represents the culmination of weeks of operational planning, as well as a clear vote of confidence from our team in our plan.
To ensure safety, we’re beginning the first phase with outdoor group fitness classes (weather permitting) and one-on-one personal training via appointment only. Reserve your spot in a group fitness class through the MINDBODY App. If you are interested in working one-on-one with our trainers, send us an email with the dates and times you are available.
Among many heightened safety measures, we will be screening all guests for COVID-19 symptoms, implementing social distancing inside and outside the gym, and face coverings will be required while not actively working out. Click here for a more detailed list.
As we follow Government Guidelines, at this time, the gym is not available for general member access. As they become available, updates will be posted on this page.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will change course as required. As always, our most profound gratitude goes to all fighting this pandemic on the front lines, ensuring our lasting safety and protection.
We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!

Saturday, March 21st, 2020 - Important updates to your Gym Membership or Tanning package
As you know, yesterday afternoon, in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus), we were directed by government authorities to temporarily close our gym and tanning facilities, effective Today, Saturday, March, 21st. While we wish we could remain open to offer you a safe haven in these uncertain times, the safety of our members, guests, team members, and community is our top priority.
Once government authorities allow, we will reevaluate this closure and will only reopen when we feel it is safe to do so. We expect this disruption to be temporary.
If you are a gym member, at 5:00 PM Today, Saturday, March 21st, your keycard will no longer provide access to the gym.
Billing & Membership Hold Options
For gym members, unless you decide to place your membership on hold, your membership will continue to bill normally and you will be provided access to our new digital offerings (see below).
For members, you may choose to temporarily place your membership on hold.» When placed on hold, time that your membership is on hold doesn’t count towards the duration of your membership. Once reinstated, your billing date will change - due to the way our system handles automatic payments and the unknown duration of this temporary closure, we are not currently able to predict new billing dates.
For VIP Tanning Clients, we will place your tanning package on hold. Once reinstated, your billing date will change.
For all other tanning clients, we will extend the availability of your current tanning package the number of days we are closed.
At-Home Workouts and Live Solo Fitness Classes
While the gym is closed, we are excited to announce options that still allow us to help you reach your fitness goals; we are dedicated to providing you with workouts, coaching, and, most importantly, community. Right now is a critical time to focus on your health, keeping your mind and body as strong as possible.
- We are preparing a few basic at-home workouts that are easily doable with everyday around-the-house items. Click here to be notified when they are ready >>
- We are also very excited to announce Live and Pre-recorded Solo Fitness Classes for members. These Solo Fitness Classes are streamed right to your phone, computer, or even TV - bringing the experience of a group fitness class to you! We’re offering two classes a day Monday-Friday and one class on Saturday and Sunday. You will have access to our virtual classes via our Facebook Group, LFT Elite, look for an email with more details on Monday, March 23rd.

We are closely monitoring this situation and look forward to welcoming everyone back into our gym just as soon as we can. For now, we encourage our members, guests, and community to stay at home with loved ones and keep kindness at the forefront of our lives, so that together we can help flatten the curve of this spread. We extend our profound thanks and gratitude to all grocery store staff and those in the medical community, keeping us safe and healthy.
We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.
